The Bowens

Let me introduce you to my Grandparents, James and Madeline Bowen On October 27th they will celebrate their 65th Wedding Anniversary and this layout is one of many that I have been putting together as a gift for them.
This layout took some time and many redos until this emerged. Each strip was inked and assembled and mounted on the black. The clock face, gears, and hand are all from Tim Holtz and mounted in the centre of a handmade flower from the same patterned paper used in the woven piece. The bottom left hand corner was an extra piece of the base cardstock that I cut to fit and embossed it with the Manhattan Rose from Stamp'n Up and inked it with weathered wood to match the colour of the patterned paper from Making Memories. The rose buds are all twisted together and woven with ribbon. The font is from the "Song Bird" cartridge from Cricut

Just Sit'n

For this card I chose the patterned paper first, and I challenged myself with this colour as many people tend not to use orange but given the fact that fall is around the corner I thought let's give it a try. The stamp used is from Magnolia and to tie it to the patterned paper I used orange and green for the clothing colours. I then used a Petaloo rose and airbrushed the smaller flowers so that all the colours worked together. The scroll was a die from Sizzix.

Sock Full of Mice

This card features a House Mouse Stamp.
After colouuring the image with copic markers I used some stickles on the light bulb and then put 3 coats of glossy accents to give it some dimension and gloss. I also used the air compressor to give the light bulb some glow( if you click on the image to enlarge you can see this subtle effect)
The stamped image was cut out using the Lacey Square from Spellbinders and laced a ribbon through the decorative edge.
The saying was stamped using a phrase from Stamp'n Up and adhered to a border punched out from EK Success.

This is the second page in the layout, depicting the start of the Honeymoon!

The journaling card was created from a stamp from Stamp'n Up and cut out. All the flowers are bits and pieces I had in my stash along with the pearls. The font for the title is by Sizzix called "Endless Love"

October 27th 1945

What do you get a couple to mark their 65th Wedding Anniversary? Since the couple celebrating happen to be my Grandparents I have chosen to do a scrapbook of their life together. I thought that this would be easy!
The layouts are easy and fun but gathering the photos and trying to get dates and names have been a little work.
If you don't own a scanner the process of converting slides into printed photos can be costly and time consuming, my family literally took hours going through slides, mind you they had a great night of entertainment in the whole process.
This layout is the first half of a double page depicting the Wedding Day of my Grandparents. My Grandparents are the couple on the right looking at the photo, the other couple getting married with them in a double ceremony is my Grandmothers brother and his new bride.

A Time Remembered

This is a simple layout easily completed in about 20 minutes. The decorative blue strip down the centre was created using the Grande Borderabilities "Illumination" by Spellbinders. This layout is a great way to use up wallet size photos.
